Vyapam scam: CBI files chargesheet against 10 people

New Delhi/Bhopal : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed two separate chargesheets in Indore and Bhopal courts against 10 people in two cases related to Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, officials said.The chargesheet in the first case named only one person while the other chargesheet in the second case mentioned names of nine accused persons for their alleged involvement in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) 2009 and the Police Constable Recruitment Test 2012, respectively.Both the examinations were conducted by Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam) or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).In both cases, the accused persons were booked on charges of impersonation, cheating and forgery under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Madhya Pradesh Recognized Examinations Act 1937.The chargesheet in the first case, that was earlier registered in 2014 in Indore, was filed against Purushottam Khoiya in the court of a special magistrate. Khoiya was remanded in judicial custody by the court.In the second case, registered by Bhopal Police in 2015, the chargesheet was filed against Kamlesh Kushwaha, Naveen Kumar, Jyotish Kumar, Vishal Solanki, Kavendra Singh Rajawat, Nemichand, Dinesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Kumar and Rajesh Dhakad at a Bhopal court."The findings are based on the investigation done by the CBI on the basis of evidence," a CBI official said.The Supreme Court on 9 July, 2015, handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency. At least 48 people linked to the Vyapam scam have died, some mysteriously.The CBI has till now registered 155 First Information Reports and six chargesheets in the Vyapam scam.The agency registered its first Vyapam case on 16 July, 2015.
