Shubha Mudgal threatened at concert for anti-Modi opinions

Classical Singer Shubha Mudgal was in for a rude shock during her concert in California after an alleged Modi supporter threatened her. However, Mudgal who has been vocal about her opposition to the prime minister, downplayed the incident.The Hindu quoted an email the singer wrote to Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust (SAHMAT) narrating the incident. She wrote: "But compared to the killing of the Muslim techie and other such incidents, I feel the experience we went through is hardly worth mentioning."[caption id="attachment_1563547" align="alignleft" width="380"] Shubha Mudgal. AFP image[/caption]Mudgal was due to perform at Sunnywale Temple’s auditorium in California with Bombay Jayashri when one of the office-bearers of the temple, who she refers to as "the Bully" in her email, heckled Mudgal about her anti-Modi comments. Mudgal then got into a heated argument with her as other performers joined them.The comments in question were made by Mudgal in a letter to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. According to the report in DNA, after she was accosted the singer and other performers threatened to leave the venue."He made physically intimidating gestures and shouted at her that he would not tolerate such activity, after which Mudgal, Bombay Jayshri and the other artists threatened to walk out of the concert. But they relented when they realised that the concert was sold out, and the organisers assured them of better security measures."
