Shekhar Gupta quits as India Today Group editor-in-chief

Editor-in-chief of India Today group Shekhar Gupta resigned today from his post even though he will continue as the editorial adviser to the group.[caption id="attachment_1691531" align="alignleft" width="380"]

IBNLive[/caption]A report in the India Today showed Aroon Purie's communication, who took over as editor-in-chief again after Gupta put in his papers, calling the move as a revamp and restructuring of the organisation. He said that Gupta had spent his two months as editor-in-chief getting to know the organisation and both had decided that this move would be benefitial for the group."From today, I will resume the responsibilities of Editor-in-Chief and he will be Editorial Advisor to the India Today Group even as he pursues his creative and entrepreneurial interests," said Poorie in the report."Shekhar, a dear personal friend, remains passionate to the India Today Revamp Project and will support me and the team.", added Purie in the report.The report furhter said that Gupta's column "National Interest" will continue to be published in the magazine.Gupta tweeted about this development on Monday, saying that this "new relationship" spoke for both Purie and him.

Gupta had joined India Today as editor-in-chief on 15 June, 2014 after resigning as the Indian Express editor-in-chief, a post he had held for 19 years. Gupta had also earlier worked for India Today between 1983 and 1995.
