Punjab: Bodies of 3 minor sisters stuffed in trunk found in Jalandhar

The three girls were reported missing Sunday night at Maqsudan Police Station by their parents when they did not find them home after returning from work

Three sisters were found dead inside a trunk in their house in Kanpur village of Jalandhar district, police said on Monday.The girls, identified as Kanchan (4), Shakti (7), and Amrita (9), had been reported missing by their parents on Sunday night. Their parents became concerned when they returned home from work and could not find their children.The family of the migrant labourer had five children, said police.Reacting to the incident, Kartarpur DSP Balbir Singh said, "Three sisters found dead in the trunk of the house. We got the information from Kanpur village about the missing of three sisters around 11 at night... The family is from Bihar and they are migrant labourers... Yesterday their parents went to work when they returned home their three children were missing..."
According to police, the father of the girls had recently received an ultimatum from his landlord to vacate the house over his drinking habit.An investigation into this tragic incident has been initiated.With inputs from agencies
