Protests erupt in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir after teen's body found

Jammu: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by slitting his throat in Kathua district here triggering protests by locals, police said on Tuesday.Karan Kumar, a class 8 student, was found murdered in the school in Basholi late on Monday night, DIG, Jammu-Kathua range, Ashkoor Wani said.Kumar had gone missing on Monday following which a search was conducted by his family members and locals at the school premises, he said. A case has been registered and investigation is on, Wani said.Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Basholi town after locals and family members blocked Bani-Basholi road and marched with the body to the local police station amid massive protests.Clashes broke out between the police and protestors who demanded arrest of the culprits, Wani said, adding, protests were on when reports last came in.
