Jharkhand: The situation became particularly tense in capital Ranchi where the crowd pelted stones at the police. Curfew has now been imposed in violence-hit areas of the city.Reacting to the violence, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren urged people not to panic. "I appeal to everyone to refrain from participating in any activities that will lead to more such crimes," he said.

West Bengal: Protesters clashed with police in Uluberia in Howrah district. A BJP office was vandalised and torched in Uluberia. Telangana: Protests erupted outside Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad. The crowd was dispersed following police intervention. CRPF has been deployed in the area.Maharashtra: A large group of women carried out a protest march in Navi Mumbai.
