Pregnant woman dies after being slapped by nurse, delivers stillborn

On Monday night, a pregnant woman was slapped by a nurse at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak and has now died soon after delivering a stillborn baby.

A pregnant woman who was slapped by a nurse while in labour at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak reportedly died soon after delivering a stillborn baby.According to this India Today report, the woman reportedly fell from the bed onto the floor after being slapped, and the baby was stillborn at a result.[caption id="attachment_2145845" align="alignleft" width="380"]Reuters Representational Image. Reuters[/caption]The pregnant woman, identified as Neelam, was in labour since Monday morning and the nurse arrived at the hospital only by 9 pm.The Daily Mail quoted Neelam's mother Saroj Rani as saying that the nurse started abusing her daughter after arriving in the ward. After that she reportedly manhandled Neelam and then slapped her, the mother said, adding that the security staff has misbehaved with her as well.Neelam's death angered her relatives and they protested outside the hospital for hours. They also took the still-born baby to the police station and protested there for 3 hours.Eventually the police booked the nurse and security staff at PGIMS, and are probing the incident.
