A soldier died and another was injured after an avalanche hit an Army post along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday, police said.[caption id="attachment_5309321" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. Reuters

Representational image. Reuters[/caption]The avalanche hit the post of Rashtriya Rifles in Sawjian sector on Thursday morning. "It buried two soldiers, following which a rescue operation was launched immediately," the police said."One jawan died on the spot and another was shifted to hospital," the police added.The deceased has been identified as Lance Naik Sapan Mehra of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, while Sepoy Harpreet Singh, who hailed from Punjab was taken to a nearby army health facility for treatment, reported Hindustan Times.Further details of the incident are awaited.With inputs from PTI
