Minor fire breaks out at Safdarjung hospital; no casualties reported

"A call of fire at MCB box containing electricity wire and meter, near casualty ward of the hospital on ground floor was reported around 4.15 pm. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was controlled within a few minutes," said Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service.Although the fire was not major, smoke emitted due to burning of wire and electrical fitting in the meter box caused panic among patients, their attendants and hospital staff. The cause of the fire was under investigation but it was suspected that the blaze broke due to overheating of the electrical wire, police said.
