Anantpur: Police in Kadiri town of the district have registered a case against a man, a local leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM), for allegedly raping a minor girl.[caption id="attachment_1798071" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. Reuters

Reuters[/caption]The case was registered against CMD Eliaz (43) on a complaint filed by a minor Muslim girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, last night.According to the girl, a Class 10 student, Eliaz had once rescued her from eve-teasers. Later he befriended her and raped her, she told the police.The complaint was filed after her mother found out about the whole affair. The accused was absconding, said police officer A Dvadanam.Meanwhile, some local organisations staged a demonstration, demanding a quick action in the case.PTI
