#JusticeforSushant: Social media outrages over Amity student's suicide

Sushant Rohilla, a third-year law student from Amity law School in Delhi, committed suicide on 10 August, for not being able to appear for his semester exams as the college authorities didn't allow him citing his low attendance.

Sushant Rohilla, a third-year law student from Amity law School in Delhi, committed suicide on 10 August for not being able to appear for his semester exams as the college authorities didn't allow him citing his low attendance. The news of Rohilla's death has stirred the internet after his friends and family outraged on social media.Soon after the suicide, Dinesh Rohilla, Sushant's uncle took to social media accusing the college. He even revealed the letter Sushant had addressed to the college before taking his life.

Later Jagdish Kumar and Mehak Rohilla – Sushant's father and sister – expressed their anguish and demanded justice for the law student.

After a series of posts from the family, Sushant's friends joined in and started demanding justice for their fellow comrade. #JusticeforSushant has become all the rage on social media.

Twitteratti too voiced their views about the partiality that exists in our education system and how teachers and the management should stop differentiating between students.

The incident led to many students sharing similar issues they faced in the past due to Amity and other institutions.

After AIB's Rohan Joshi and Aditi Mittal shared their experiences and thoughts on this issue. Rohan published a series of tweets explaining the incidents that led to him dropping out of engineering college and termed this episode as 'soul-crushing'.

Students have been protesting against the management and have submitted a manifesto.

According to The Indian Express, Savita Mehta, vice-president communications of Amity Group, issued a statement about Sushant's low attendance and intimation about the same with parents. However, Sushant's sister Mehak and friends have ruled this out claiming that he had missed classes only because of a foot injury and other college events.
