Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday announced that the Supreme Court would soon come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform which will enable real-time information on pendency of cases.
Calling it a historic day, CJI Chandrachud said the platform has been announced in a bid to bring transparency and accountability in the judicial system.“It is a historic day. It is a unique platform which has been developed by the NIC and the in-house team of the Supreme Court. Now, at the click of a button, you can see real-time information on the pendency of cases, year-wise, total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, number of cases decided qoram-wise,” said the CJI.The National Judicial Data Grid is a database of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District and Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online platform under the eCourts Project. With CJI's announcement, the Supreme Court will also be included in this database.With inputs from agencies
