Infographic: Freedom of press in India is worse than Afganistan

There is no organized body to protect them, especially in the backwaters of the country.But if one goes through the records and the statics over the years, the situation is not surprising at all. India has a very poor record when it comes to the freedom of press.This year India was ranked 136 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index. It's a small improvement form 2014, 2013 and 2012, when India was ranked 140 each year, but a disaster if we look at the statics from the year 2010 or 2009, where India was ranked 122 and 105, respectively.The press freedom index that Reporters Without Borders publishes every year measures the level of freedom of information. It reflects the degree of freedom that journalists, news organizations and netizens enjoy in each country, and the efforts made by the authorities to respect and ensure respect for this freedom.According to the latest report, the top spot is taken by Finland, while Eritrea does the worst.Here is an infographic on how India has done over the decade.[caption id="attachment_2360524" align="alignleft" width="825"] Infographic[/caption]
