Former 15 Corps commander Lt Gen Satish Dua takes over as CISC chief

New Delhi: Lt Gen Satish Dua, a counter-terrorism specialist who played a key role in planning the much-talked about surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, has taken over as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC).[caption id="attachment_3058972" align="alignleft" width="380"] Lt Gen Satish Dua. Sameer Yasir/Firstpost[/caption]Though he had formally taken over the position on 31 October, it was his first day in office on Thursday and wasaccorded a Tri-Services Guard of Honour.Prior to this, Gen Dua was General Officer Commanding of the Army's strategic Chinar Corps (15 Corps) responsible for guarding the Line of Control in Kashmir. Dua's tenure as chief of the Chinar Corps, which began on 27 August last year, has been characterized by a mixture of robust operations along the LoC and in the hinterland. He is also known for his constructive engagement with the youth.His tenure though will be defined by the 'successful' surgical strikes launched by the Army against terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in September in response to the Uri terror attack.Dua is also credited with raising a new counter-terrorism formation of Assam Rifles (IGAR East) in the North East. He was also the Indian Defence Attache to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
