Fire at Trident Hotel in Mumbai's Nariman Point under control; no injuries reported

A fire that broke out in the basement of Mumbai's 5-star Trident Hotel at Nariman Point at around 11pm Wednesday night is under control; no injuries have been reported so far. The Indian Express, quoting fire officer Prakash Nalawade, is reporting that a short circuit started the fire and "all electrical units are burnt".[caption id="attachment_5761211" align="alignleft" width="380"] Screenshot of the Trident fire from ANI's Twitter feed.[/caption]The first visuals from ANI showed orange flames beginning to engulf an entire room. Four fire engines, four water tankers and police teams reportedly rushed to the hotel. The Hindu is reporting that the fire broke out inside the Bottega Veneta showroom at the hotel.Preliminary reports suggest nobody was trapped in the blaze. Situated in the heart of downtown Mumbai, Trident, Nariman Point, is 35 storeys high with panoramic views of Marine Drive. The Trident fire marks the second fire scare on the same day in the country's financial capital. Two days after nine people were killed and 173 injured in a fire at the government-run Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in the city, another fire erupted in the same hospital on Wednesday.
