Class 9 student stabbed to death in school washroom in Vadodara; police suspect senior behind murder

In a chilling reminder of the murder of a seven-year-old boy in a Gurugram school, a Class 9 student was on Friday found murdered at his school in Gujarat's Vadodara with several stab wounds on his body. Four students of the same school have been apprehended in connection with the murder, media reports said.The child's body was found in the first-floor toilet near the 10th standard classrooms at the school, with multiple stab injuries on his head and body, Hindustan Times reported.The Gujarat Police, which initiated an inquiry into the incident, suspects that a senior student of the same school could be behind the murder. ANI quoted RS Bhagora, a senior police official, as saying that the murder could be a result of a fight between two children.He, however, said that the reason behind the incident has not been ascertained as of now. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.According to Hindustan Times, the police found a school bag which contained weapons on the terrace of a temple next to the school. The bag was said to belong to one of the apprehended minors.The case is eerily similar to the murder of a seven-year-old child, who was found dead with his throat slit in his school's washroom on 8 September. Initially, the Gurugram Police charged the school bus conductor and arrested him in connection with the crime. However, a CBI inquiry later revealed that a Class 11 student, who allegedly wanted a parent-teacher meeting and an examination at the school postponed, killed the child to have the school shut down.The Juvenile Justice Board later said that the accused teenager will be tried as an adult.
