Clarification: Mumbai monorail train suffered technical failure, not 'near mishap' as reported earlier

On Saturday evening, Firstpost erroneously published an article stating that two monorail trains happened to be travelling on the same track and a collision was averted in the nick of time. We sincerely apologise for the inadvertent error.Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) clarified that the monorail train suffered a technical issue, and a second train had to be sent to rescue the stranded one.  Images of the two trains standing face to face on the tracks near Chembur quickly made their way to social media and were picked up by several websites, including Firstpost.[caption id="attachment_3792935" align="aligncenter" width="825"] The image of the two monorails in Chembur that led to the confusion. Courtesy: Sanjay Sawant[/caption]Several Twitter users, including Rajendra Aklekar, who has authored a book on Indian Railways, pointed out that a mountain was being made of a monorail.A clarification from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) attributed the incident to a "power failure" in one of the rakes."One rake had suffered a power failure. So another was sent to tow away the affected rake," it said.
