Centre to rebuild rain-ravaged anganwadis in Uttarakhand

Image courtesy PIB[/caption]Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath had spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and the concerned ministers on the issue."I have spoken to the chief minister of Uttarakhand and concerned ministers who have told me that about 30 anganwadis have been damaged due to the heavy rains, but the number can be much more. So, we have decided to bear 100 percent construction cost of those anganwadis," she said.Tirath said she also wrote to the prime minister and finance minister in this regard. Apart from touring some of the damaged anganwadis to take stock of the situation, the team of officials comprising joint secretary Vivek Joshi and NCPCR chairperson Kushal Singh will also review steps taken for the care, protection and rehabilitation of children and women hit by the tragedy.PTI
