CBI begins probe into Vyapam recruitment officer's death

Bhubaneswar: Railway officials in Odisha were on Tuesday questioned by a CBI team in connection with the mysterious death of Bijaya Bahadur Singh who served as an observer in some Vyapam recruitment tests in Madhya Pradesh."They asked us several questions like from where the body was recovered, who was the ticket collector in the particular coach, whether the victim was immediately taken to hospital and how we came to know about the incident," N Pradhan, the station master of Belpar Railway Station.[caption id="attachment_2459172" align="alignleft" width="380"]

The 1978 batch retired IFS officer Singh, who was travelling by Puri-Jodhpur Express had reportedly fallen from the locomotive.He along with wife Nita Singh and daughter, was returning to Bhopal, and his wife had filed an FIR at Bilaspur after he was initially found missingThe CBI office here refused to divulge anything about the visit of the agency's team to Jharsuguda in connection with Singh's death.Singh was appointed in various committees of the Vyapam (Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal or Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board MPPEB) from 2010-13. He had served as an observer in these committees.The Supreme Court had handed over the probe into Vyapam scam to CBI in July. The premier investigating agency is probing into the scam and cases related to death of over 40 persons linked to the scam, including accused and witnesses.PTI
