Bengaluru blast: Woman killed was on holiday, extended stay after not getting tickets

A woman was killed and three others were injured in a blast in front of a popular restaurant in Bengaluru on the crowded Church Street on Sunday night.The police identified the deceased woman as 37-year-old Bhavani Devi, who had come to Bengaluru from Chennai for a holiday.Bhavani, a 37-year-old homemaker was out for dinner at the Kerala-themed Coconut Groove Restaurant with eight other members of her family when the IED placed outside the eatery exploded.She was reportedly in Bengaluru to visit her relatives along with her two children, her 15-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter.[caption id="attachment_2020049" align="alignleft" width="380"] PTI image[/caption]Karthik Kumar another nephew of the victim told The Indian Express, “Bhavani and her children were in Bengaluru to visit her husband’s relatives for the holiday season."According to the report, Bhavani was to return to Chennai on Sunday but had extended her stay after she failed to get train tickets.Three others, including one of her relatives who was identified as Karthick, have been admitted to Mallya Hospital and HOSMAT Hospital.City Police Commissioner MN Reddi confirmed that Bhavani succumbed to injuries at Mallya Hospital, where she was taken to in a serious condition. Her relative, who was also injured, is hospitalised but out of danger.Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to Bhavani's kin.The IED wrapped in a plastic bag and suspected to have been placed in a bushy plant went off around 8.30 PM in front of Coconut Grove restaurant, Karnataka Director General of Police L Pachau told reporters at the site.
