Hathway Cable to invest Rs 600 crore on digitisation

Hathway Cable and Datacom will invest 5-6 billion rupees on cable digitisation by 2014 when the government amends broadcasting rules, a top official told reporters on Tuesday.

India is planning to ammend broadcasting rules with a view to fast track complete digitisation of cable broadcasting in the country. The information and broadcast ministry is working on an ordinance to mandate complete cable digitisation in the top metro cities by 2012 and pan-India by 2014.

K Jayaraman, managing director and chief executive of Hathway, was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Indian Pay TV Digital Summit.
