It's going to be a busy Tuesday, with the Congress commencing a 'Dhanyawaad Yatra' and addressing a thanksgiving public meeting in Uttar Pradesh.

The TDP legislature meeting will be held to elect N Chandrababu Naidu as the leader.

A two-day meeting of foreign ministers belonging to the BRICS bloc of emerging economies will continue on Tuesday in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

Congress’s Dhanyawaad Yatra begins

Buoyed by the INDIA bloc’s stunning performance in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress will commence a ‘Dhanyawaad Yatra’ from 11 to 15 June in all 403 constituencies of the state.

Senior party leaders and workers are expected to participate in the yatra.

During the yatra, people from different communities will be honoured by giving a copy of the Constitution.

TDP legislature party meet

The Telugu Desam Party Legislature meeting will be held on Tuesday morning to elect N Chandrababu Naidu as the leader.

Following this, leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising TDP, BJP and Janasena would meet Governor S Abdul Nazeer and stake claim to form government, Jyotshna Tirunagari had told PTI.

Along with Naidu, more leaders could be sworn-in on Wednesday. Naidu is scheduled to take oath as CM at 11:27 am by Kesarapalli IT Party near Gannavaram Airport.

Tirunagari said some of the leaders who could take oath alongside Naidu could be finalised on Tuesday night.

Mumbai Coastal Road’s second phase inauguration

The second phase of Mumbai Coastal Road is set to open on Tuesday.

The tunnel will be operational from 7 am to 11 pm for five days a week and will remain closed on weekends as work continues.

The newly constructed road aims to significantly reduce travel time between south Mumbai and the western suburbs by 70 per cent and cut fuel consumption by 34 per cent.

Schengen visa fee hike

The Schengen Visa, which allows visa-free travel to over 29 European countries, will become more expensive.

Starting 11 June 2024, applicants will face higher fees for this essential travel document.

The fees will rise by 12 per cent.

The prices for adults will be €80 to €90 (Rs 7,267 to Rs 8,175), and children will be €40 to €45 (Rs 3,633 to Rs 4,087).

The price hike is attributed to inflation in member states.

Despite the increase, the Commission claims that the fees remain “relatively low” compared to other countries.

Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi thanksgiving public meeting

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi will address a thanksgiving public meeting at Himachal Ka Purwa in Amethi on 11 June.

The newly-elected Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma will also address the meeting.

Jharkhand court summons Rahul Gandhi

An MP MLA special court in Jharkhand has summoned Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case filed by BJP youth wing leader Naveen Jha and asked him to appear before the court on 11 June.

The summon comes three months after the Jharkhand high court dismissed Gandhi’s petition challenging criminal proceedings in the case.

Vinod Sahu, advocate of Jha, who is a state working committee member of the BJP’s youth wing, said the summon was issued after a prayer was made for issuance of a non-bailable warrant (NBW).

Expanded meeting of BRICS in Russia

A two-day meeting of foreign ministers belonging to the BRICS bloc of emerging economies will continue on Tuesday in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

The meeting marks the first since gathering since the group expanded from five members to nine in January with the addition of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates as official members.

Another 15 countries, including Türkiye, were also invited to the expanded format of the meeting.

International conference on reconstruction of Ukraine in Germany

The annual Ukraine Recovery Conference will commence today in Berlin.

The war in Ukraine is estimated to have caused damage, totalling several hundred billion dollars since Russia started it more than two years ago.

AIPA Caucus Meeting in Brunei

The 15th meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Caucus is taking place in Brunei Darussalam from 10 to 13 June.

The meeting is hosted by the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam.

The Indian football team enters a testing transition phase with a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying match against heavyweights Qatar in Doha on 11 June.
