Sep car sales disappoint again, up just 0.7%; bikes jump 17%
According to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), motorcycle sales in last month grew by 17.44 percent to 8,85,117 units from 7,53,693 units in the same month previous year.

New Delhi: Domestic passenger car sales grew by 0.73 percent to 1,56,018 units in September this year compared to 1,54,884 units in the same month of 2012.
According to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), motorcycle sales in last month grew by 17.44 percent to 8,85,117 units from 7,53,693 units in the same month previous year.

Total two-wheeler sales in September 2013 grew by 18.39 percent to 12,65,704 units from 10,69,069 units in the same period of previous year.
Total sales of commercial vehicles were down by 26.95 percent to 51,680 units from 70,746 units in the year-ago period, SIAM said.
Total sale of vehicles across categories registered a growth of 11.64 percent to 15,80,254 units in September 2013 as against 14,15,526 units in the same month of 012, it added.
