Watch: Marathas in New York protest to support community in Maharashtra

A Maratha Kranti Silent Morcha (protest) took place at Times Square, New York on 16 October, 2016. The New York-based Maratha Community population took to the streets to show their support for their community in Maharashtra, India.Eight girls during the morcha gave a memorandum to New York Senator Chuck Schumer and the Indian representative from UN, Syed Akbaruddin. The delegation met the Consulate General of India in New York, Riva Ganguly Das, and send an email to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.Maratha community members from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut participated in the silent march. This was the second of such march to take place outside India. The earlier one took place in Italy. For the next course of action, the community plans to march in California, Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin and Washington.In Maharashtra, the Maratah Morcha rallies have been organised in more than 27 districts where more than 3 crore community members have participated.
