US teen faces charges for attacking Sikh-American man in Chicago

Darien, Illinois: Authorities say a suburban Chicago teenager faces charges in an assault on a Sikh man that police are investigating as a possible hate crime.[caption id="attachment_2431232" align="alignleft" width="380"] Inderjeit Singh Mukker injured after the incident,. Image Credit: Twitter @SikhCoalition[/caption]The DuPage County State's Attorney's office announced Friday that an unnamed juvenile was charged with five counts of felony aggravated battery.Police say Inderjit Mukker was driving 8 September when he and the teen became involved in a "road rage incident." Both pulled over, and the teen allegedly punched the 53-year-old man in the face as he sat in his vehicle.Authorities allege the teen later resisted arrested and punched an officer.Darien police have said they'll investigate as a possible hate crime. A Sikh organization says the alleged attacker called Mukker, a US citizen, a "terrorist" and said, "Go back to your country."AP
