Rafah crossing likely to open today, but only for wounded Palestinians for treatment in Egypt

Dozens of wounded Palestinians might get treated in Egypt after several reports suggest that the southern border at Rafah crossing will open today.The border authority in Gaza has said that Egypt has agreed to let 81 of the severely wounded Palestinians inside the country for treatment.On Tuesday, AFP reported that a large number of ambulances were already present at the Rafah crossing. A medical official from the Egyptian city of El Arish said that healthcare workers would be deployed at the crossing to examine patients and determine which hospital they would be sent to.Apart from this, a field hospital will be built with an area of 1,300 square metres to treat the wounded Palestinians in the city of Sheikh Zuweid.Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has informed British nationals trapped in Gaza about the opening of the Rafah border.an Israeli strike in a densely populated Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza has left several dead and has caused catastrophic damage according to eyewitnesses in the region.The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has claimed that the strike in the Jabalya refugee camp killed Hamas commander Ibrahim Biari who was one of the leaders involved in attacking Israel on October 7.Hamas, on the other hand, has denied the presence of any of its leaders in the area, spokesperson Hazem Qassem said.On October 27, Israel launched its ground operation in Gaza, deploying tanks bulldozers, infantrymen and combat engineer units into the Strip.
