One mediaperson killed in Pakistan after gunmen fire at GEO News van

Karachi: An employee of a leading media group in Pakistan was killed and another injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van here tonight, the latest attack on media workers in the country.[caption id="attachment_2426676" align="alignleft" width="380"]Image courtesy: Reuters Image courtesy: Reuters[/caption]The GEO News channel van was parked with the driver and a satellite engineer inside it when three unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle near the Naheed Store in Bahadurabad.The engineer died and the driver is injured in the attack.The assailants fled the scene on motorcycles after opening fire and we have started investigations to arrest the gunmen, DIG Munir Sheikh said.Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal has taken notice of the attack and asked senior police officials to immediately arrest the suspects.Geo TV, owned by Jang Group of Newspapers, is one of the largest media house in Pakistan. Last year, one of Geo's leading anchors Hamid Mir was attacked in Karachi.PTI
