Germany: Syrian refugee kills woman with machete; injures two

A 21-year-old Syrian refugee killed a woman with a machete and injured two other people on Sunday before being arrested in the southern German city of Reutlingen, a police spokesman said.[caption id="attachment_2910926" align="alignleft" width="380"] Representational Image. Reuters[/caption]The asylum-seeking Syrian man had been involved in previous incidents causing injuries to other people, he said. The spokesman had no immediate information on when the man arrived in Germany, or when the previous incidents took place.The assailant was apparently acting alone, the police official said. "There is no danger to anyone else at this time," he told Reuters.The attack occurred at a bus station in the south-western city at 4:30 pm (1430 GMT) following an altercation, according to the statement.No further details were available on the alleged attacker's background and his motive was unclear. There was no immediate evidence of any accomplices.The attack comes as Germany is on edge following a rampage at a Munich mall on Friday night in which nine people were killed, and an ax attack on a train a week ago that left five wounded in southern Germany.Baden-Wuerttemberg is Germany's third-largest state.With Inputs from Agencies
