Donald Trump Jr says women don't belong in the workforce if they can't handle harassment at work

In a 2013 radio interview, Donald Trump Jr – son of Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump – had dismissed workplace sexual harassment by suggesting that women who can't take it should become kindergarten teachers.

In a 2013 radio interview, recently scooped out by BuzzFeed, Donald Trump Jr – son of Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump – had dismissed workplace sexual harassment by suggesting that women who can't take it should become kindergarten teachers.During a discussion on whether women should be permitted in all-male golf clubs in an episode of The Opie and Anthony Show, Trump Jr said: "If you can’t handle some of the basic stuff that’s become a problem in the workforce today, then you don’t belong in the workforce. Like, you should go maybe teach kindergarten. I think it’s a respectable position."

Further describing himself as a "guy’s guy", Trump Jr, who is also executive vice-president at the Trump Organisation, said: "If you have a guys’ place you have a guys’ place. In a clubhouse, guys just want to be guys and they want to talk about stuff and don't want to hex it."According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, gender-based harassment does not have to be of a sexual nature, however, and can include offensive remarks about a person’s sex. For example, it is illegal to harass a woman by making offensive comments about women in general, states the US law.Commenting on Trump Jr's remarks, Vice-President Joe Biden said, “What I found astounding is that he would so publicly — no matter who he was talking to — that he would acknowledge that he engaged in the textbook definition of sexual assault.”
