Boston blasts: FBI looking into all aspects as Obama wants answers

Washington: The FBI-led investigation is looking into every possible aspect of the Boston Marathon blasts, as President Barack Obama wants answer to all thequestions that people have about the deadly incident."There is a thorough investigation underway into all of the actions and sources of motivation and inspiration that were involved here that led to these actions, as it should be. And this is in an early stage right now," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters.[caption id="attachment_724495" align="alignleft" width="380"] President Obama has been thoroughly briefed on all the matters related to the Boston bombings investigation and will continue to be briefed. Reuters[/caption]Three people died and more than 200 people were injured when two bombs went off in quick succession near the finish line of the Boston Marathon last week.The police suspect that two Chechen brothers - one a naturalised US citizen and other a lawful permanent resident - were responsible for this "act of terror".While the elder brother 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev died last week in a police exchange of fire, the younger one Dzhokhar, 19, was arrested a day later. He is injured and is being treated in a Boston hospital.On Monday he was charged with conspiracy to use a "weapon of mass destruction"."The fact that we have made progress in decimating al Qaeda Central, including obviously the elimination of Osama bin Laden, has not meant that the threat itself has gone away. And we've been very clear about that. There are threats from a variety of al-Qaeda offshoots around the world," he said when asked if Obama was concerned about home grown terrorism."As the President has said there is always the potential threat from lone actors, those who are self-radicalized and who are not associated with outside groups or terrorist organizations, but take action on their own. It is part of the threat that is assessed every day by the professionals who work every day to protect our country," Carney said.President Obama, he said, has been thoroughly briefed on all the matters related to this investigation and will continue to be briefed.PTI
