Blast in Pakistan kills 5 policemen, child

At least five policemen and a child were today killed in a bomb blast that targeted a security van in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Peshawar: At least five policemen and a child were today killed in a bomb blast that targeted a security van in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to police, the blast occurred near a police mobile in Sardheri Bazar area of Charsadda that killed six persons.[caption id="attachment_1352991" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. AFP.[/caption]Six others including two policemen were also injured in the explosion. Initial investigation said that militants had fixed explosives in a bicycle that went off when the police mobile crossed the area. The police officers were on their way to provide security to a polio team.Meanwhile, security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area and started investigation. Rescue teams shifted the bodies and injured to thehospital. Four anti-polio workers were yesterday killed in attacks carried out in various parts of Pakistan including two women in Karachi who were carrying out the vaccination programme.PTI
