Born in Hissar (Haryana) in 1968, Arvind Kejriwal is an active participant in the movement for the enactment of the Jan Lokpal Bill led by social activist Anna Hazare.Arvind KejriwalKejriwal was always concerned by corruption and wanted to work for the social good. In fact, the mechanical engineer from IIT Kharagpur quit his job at Tata Steel to work with the Missionaries of Charity and the Ramakrishna Mission in eastern and northeastern India.He joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1992 and was posted at the Income-tax Commissioner's Office in Delhi as Joint Commissioner. He soon realised that much of the corruption prevalent in government was owing to lack of transparency in the process and made a lot of effort to increase transparency in the Income Tax office.Kejriwal was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership in 2006 for activating India's Right to Information (RTI) Act.
