What was all the stink about 'Google Nose'?

Google 'Nose' everything about smell... or so they claim.In a bouquet of April Fool's offerings, which also included a claim that YouTube would be shutting down, Google  also 'launched' Google Nose, which will apparently allow users to interact with search through smell.[caption id="attachment_680691" align="alignleft" width="380"] A screengrab from the Google Nose 'homepage'[/caption]The search engine which claims to have 15M+ 'scentibytes' offers some howlers like "Wet dog" (described as being aggressive and foxy with notes of musk and wet towel) and horse manure, apart from other more 'normal' scents like lemon.In an 'introductory video' (Google did a lot of them yesterday), Jon Wooly of the 'Google Nose' team explains that they were inspired by his families puppy who uses her sense of smell to discover things.The companies 'mobile aroma database' reportedly merges "photons with infrasound waves that temporarily aligns molecules to emit a particular scent". Wonderfully geeky jargon - Google. we're impressed."People dont always have time to stop and smell the roses.
