WhatsApp is testing photo filters in its beta version for Android

WhatsApp is testing photo filters feature on the Android version of its app. This feature has been available for iOS users since June. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company added this new feature on the beta for Android in version 2.17.298. However, the company quickly removed the feature in the follow-up version 2.17.298.[caption id="attachment_2119039" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Representational image. Getty Images[/caption]According to the report, there are currently five filters being offered by the app which includes Pop, B&W, Cool, Chrome, and Film. The functionality of these filters is similar to how it works on iOS devices. The report points out that the stable version will pack more filters when it is rolled out to the public.To use the filters open a chat or a group and click a photo using WhatsApp's  in-app camera and swipe up after clicking. Choose any of the available filters and hit send.WhatsApp is also testing a colourful text status quite similar to those being offered by Facebook. This feature was also spotted on the beta version 2.17.291. To do this click on the pencil icon directly above the camera icon in the Status tab and select the font and background.This news comes after WhatsApp was finally giving shape to its plans towards bank-to-bank transfer using the UPI system. In the new version '2.17.295' through the Google Play Beta Programme, it says: "WhatsApp Payments: the immediate bank-to-bank transfer with UPI."  However, the official "WhatsApp Payments" section for Android is still under development.
