RIM offers 50% discount on PlayBooks in India till 31 Dec

BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion is offering hefty discounts in India on its PlayBook tablet in a limited festive season offer until December 31, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.[caption id="attachment_167575" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="Reuters"][/caption]The 16 GB version of the PlayBook is available at Rs 13,490 in the festive offer, a more than 50 percent discount from the regular price of Rs 27,990.The 32 GB model is available at Rs 15,990 and the 64 GB model is for Rs 24,490 in the festive offer, compared with regular prices of Rs 32,990  and Rs 37,990, respectively.The PlayBook, which RIM launched to scathing reviews in April, has sold less than one million units globally, while Apple has sold more than 11 million iPads in just its most recent quarter.Reuters
