Zite follows Flipboard to the iPhone

Mobile newsreaders seem to be the rage this week. First, Flipboard became an iPhone app, in addition to its iPad counterpart. Then Google launched Currents, which aggregated news, as well as had RSS. And now Zite, the iPad only magazine app has come to the iPhone. Zite works on the same principle as Pandora, except for written material, of course. You put in your interests for what you like to read about and stay updated with, and the app will pull articles from various news sources. Once you've read the articles, you can choose whether you like them or not and Zite will learn what you like to bring you similar material. You can even specify that you'd like more articles from the same author or the same news source. The app even picks up information from your Twitter feed and your Google Reader account to see which news stories would be interesting to you.

From the iPad to the iPhone

If you already have the iPad version of Zite, it will download to your iPhone as linked to your iPad. The format for the iPhone version is of course, a little more compact and there is no pop-out screen to like, dislike or share an article like there is in the iPad version. instead, all of these features are in bars on the top and bottom of the article. The app still maintains the cleanliness of its iPad counterpart and also gives you your top stories across all your sections on one page and has individual pages for your interest selections. The Zite iPhone app is available for free from the iOS App Store and requires iOS 4, or later.
