Yahoo! update makes it simpler to share photos from Flickr

A new Yahoo! Mail-Flickr update claims to make it “super simple” to share single photos or albums from Flickr. This update is especially interesting for those who send and receive several photos in Yahoo! Mail. Joe Covalesky, Principal Engineer, Yahoo! Mail, claims that the update not only makes it simpler to share Flickr photos in mail, but also displays them in an attractive way.

He explains that the way to go about this update is akin to their Dropbox integration. Users have to click the arrow next to the paperclip icon and click “Share from Flickr”. Images show up almost as soon as users hit “Share from Flickr”, since the user is already logged in. Alternatively, if the sender of the e-mail is not a Flickr user, then he can sign up for the service right from his mail box.

Yahoo! announced a complete revamp of its photo service Flickr at its recent New York City event. The all-new Flickr is already live and comes with a whopping one terabyte of free photo storage. The new Flickr homepage now has images taking the centrestage. You’d be forgiven if you thought that you’d actually stumbled onto Instagram when you see the new Flickr page. The images are now larger and text takes a backseat.

There is a fancy new header, quite like Facebook's, on top of your page. The all new Activity Feed on Flickr combines your friends’ recent uploads with activity on your photostream, in a convenient centralised hub of sorts.

The all-new slideshow mode on Flickr displays your images beautifully, with music. The service now also supports up to three minutes of 1080p HD quality videos, since now you have one terabyte of space at your disposal. Flickr is also offering enormous amounts of space for your high resolution photos. “We want all of your images,” Flickr said, and it plans to keep it all for free.
