Xiaomi Redmi 4 launch event today: Here's what to expect

After the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 4 – and apparently it could be accompanied by a cheaper variant too - in China at an event to be held today at 7PM CST (4:30pm IST). The teaser didn't give away much about the device, but there have been a bunch of leaks that pretty much reveal it all. Let's take a quick look at what we can expect from the Xiaomi event.

After the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 4 – and apparently it could be accompanied by a cheaper variant too - in China at an event to be held today at 7PM CST (4:30pm IST). The teaser didn't give away much about the device, but there have been a bunch of leaks that pretty much reveal it all. Let's take a quick look at what we can expect from the Xiaomi event.To begin with, the event is largely about the new long-time rumoured Redmi 4. The highlight of the device will be its full metal body. It is likely to sport s a 5-inch (1080x1920 pixels) LCD display and under the hood get a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. But there have also been reports hinting at a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC.Xiaomi-Redmi-4-teaserThen there's the 32GB onboard storage, which will be expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. On the camera front, one can expect a 13-megapixel rear snapper with a dual-LED flash, and the front side will come fitted with a 5-megapixel camera. Finally, a 4100mAh battery completed the package. The device is likely to come dipped in Grey, Silver and Gold colour options.But, that's not all. It is also expected to be accompanied by a cheaper model likely to be called Redmi 4A. The cheaper variant will also ge a 5-inch display, but with 720p resolution. Under the hood, it will get a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. Then there's 16GB onboard storage that can be expanded via microSd card slot. A 13 MP camera could make it to the specs sheet, but there is no mention of the LED flash. Other specs include 5MP front camera and a 3030mAh battery. The device will be made available in Rose Gold and Gold variants.
