Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Redmi Note arrive in India for Rs 6,999 and Rs 9,999

Xiaomi made a grand entry into the Indian market with the flagship Mi3 and along with it the company has also launched two other smartphones. While the pricing has been announced, availability has not yet been revealed, though Xiaomi's Hugo Barra said that they would be coming soon. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the low-end entry level model has been priced at Rs 6,999, while the Redmi Note phablet has been priced at Rs 9,999.  Both have been priced very aggressively and Xiaomi has clearly trained its eyes on the Indian smartphone brigade, because during the presentation the company stressed on its customer care and after sales service capability in India. The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It comes powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. On the storage front, one can expect 16GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi's MIUI layer on top. One can also expect an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera. The larger Redmi Note has a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display. It boasts the 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, that we have seen on the HTC Desire 616 and Micromax Canvas Knight. It features a healthy 1.7GB of RAM, making it one of the cheapest smarpthone with such an high amount of RAM. Other specs include 8GB onboard storage, microSD card slot up to 32GB, 3MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter for selfies and 3100mAh battery. It runs Xiaomi's MIUI OS. The Redmi Note, if you recall, is something of a record breaker in terms of sales, with Xiaomi having sold 10,000 units in just a second in Taiwan.
