Xiaomi Mi VR Play 2 launched in China for $14; gets lighter with better cooling

Xiaomi has launched the successor to its Mi VR Play headset that was launched in India late last year. The new headset is called the Mi VR Play 2 is priced at $14 (roughly Rs 900) and comes with minor improvements over the previous model.Those tiny improvement according to GizChina, include an improved material that Xiaomi claims is more comfortable to wear than its predecessor. The new material also makes the Mi VR Play 2 lighter than the previous model and comes with smaller holes that allow for better cooling when worn for longer periods.Xiaomi Mi VR Play 2The headset still remains what Xiaomi calls a "toy" and is basically an affordable way to step into the immersed virtual reality worlds using a smartphone.Xiaomi will start selling the Mi VR Play 2 from 19 April in China for CNY 99. For now there is no news as to whether Xiaomi will launch its new VR headset outside China.The first Mi VR Play headset arrived in India back in December 2016. It was priced at Rs 999 and went on sale from 21 December, 2016. The VR Play was Google Cardboard compatible and incorporated a 2-way zipper. The VR Play was made of Lycra and included anti-reflective lenses.
