Xiaomi Mi 5 may unveil on 3 December; tipped to launch with Snapdragon 820

Looks like the wait for Xiaomi's upcoming Mi 5 may finally end! According to a new leak, the company might unveil the Xiomi Mi 5 on December 3 and also mentions that the device will pack in Qualcomm's unannounced Snapdragon 820 processor. An additional leak also points out that the Mi Band 1s might launch as soon as next week.Tipster Leaksfly mentioned in a Weibo post that Xiaomi will launch its Mi 5 flagship smartphone at an event on December 3. However, Qualcomm hasn't officially launched the Snapdragon 820 yet. But the post shares the date for its launch which is said to take place on November 20. As of now, there is no official word from the company on the launch.A previous report had stated that due to the delay of Snapdragon 820, the company might opt for a MediaTek Helio X20 processor. Based on previous leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will include a 5.3-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels of resolution, and pixel density that goes up to 554ppi.The chipset is likely to be coupled with 4GB of RAM and 16/64GB internal storage. A 3,030mAh battery is expected to power the device, slightly lower than lower than the 3,080mAh battery seen on its predecessor. On the camera front, one can expect a 16MP rear snapper and a 6MP front-facing camera for selfie lovers. The handset will run Android 5.1.1.Besides, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come with a fingerprint scanner, named Sense ID. This sensor is said to work on ultrasound technology rather than on optical one seen in the current fingerprint sensors. GSMArena explains that the ultrasound technology is apparently more ‘resilient against dirt and water on the finger’.
