Xiaomi hires Jabong co-founder for India operations, launch slated for Q4

The trend of offering top position to Indians in companies has been continuing since Microsoft offered Satya Nadella the post of CEO. Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi is following suit and has started hiring big to be able to launch their brand in India later this year, reported BGR India. Sources close to BGR India have confirmed that Xiaomi have hired Manu Kumar Jain, who was the co-founder of e-commerce website Jabong.com. He had quit the company earlier this year to start his own venture. After leaving Jabong, in his new venture Gynjer, he was planning to launch smartphones, tablets and wearables. He was looking to launch high quality smart devices by third party ODMs in Taiwan and China at prices that would definitely affect sales of similar smartphone manufacturers who sell at similar prices. Xiaomi’s plan in India is similar to that of his venture and with his understanding of the Indian market they might even make a good enough buzz around their products. BGR India’s sources who are close to the development have hinted a Diwali launch. Though the plans might change and will be dependent on the number smartphones Xiaomi will be able to manufacture. Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra had said earlier this year that they will start production in 10 countries which will also include India. He had also said that Xiaomi would set up local offices in India and would retail smartphones through its online store. Xiaomi is planning to partner with Flipkart  and few other ecommerce websites for its entry in the Indian markets.
