Xiaomi has rolled out the stable version of its MIUI 9 Global to all the 21 eligible devices

Chinese smartphone maker and electronics giant has rolled out the stable version of its in-house Android-based operating system, MIUI 9 to all eligible devices.[caption id="attachment_4387947" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image: Reuters[/caption]Xiaomi’s Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to announce this update by adding that Xiaomi is committed to rolling out updates to all eligible devices including the ones launched almost 4 years ago, the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Xiaomi Redmi 1S.According to the tweet, MIUI 9 is now available for Redmi 2/ Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 4i, Redmi 3S/ Prime, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 3, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Max/ Prime, Redmi Y1/ Y1 Lite, Redmi 4, Mi 5, Mi MIX 2, Mi Max 2, and Redmi Note 4. This brings the number of total smartphones being updates to MIUI 9 to 21, not adding the newly launched devices that pack MIUI 9 out of the box.

Even though the devices such as Redmi 1S or the Mi 3 do not run the latest version of Android, it is quite commendable for the company to still issue the updates and ensure that security patches and updates are applied to devices that launched four years ago. This level of update is rare, if not unheard of in the Android ecosystem.
