X06: PJ Working on New Halo Game

Peter Jackson has been a pretty busy man. As we all know he's taken up the role of producer for the new Halo film and now we get word from Barcelona that he‘s decided to collaborate with Microsoft to form a new game development studio called Wingnut Studios. In addition to this he's also planning on working with developer Bungie to co-write, co-design and co-produce a brand new game in the Halo universe.

Here's what the director of LOTR and King Kong had to say about that, "Microsoft has built an amazing living canvas with Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, which allows the storytellers of our time to express themselves in a new medium. They have fundamentally changed how people think about games. My vision, together with Microsoft Game Studios, is to push the boundaries of game development and the future of interactive entertainment. From a movie-maker's point of view, it is clear to me that the Xbox 360 platform is the stage where storytellers can work their craft in the same way they do today with movies and books but taking it further with interactivity."

And he quickly continues to clear up any sort of misconception that may arise from this; "It's not Halo 3 or 4. It's not the film. But it is based on that amazing world."
