WhatsApp is working on a tweaked UI with minor changes to Snapchat-like 'Status' updates

WhatsApp developers are working on minor changes to the user interface of the new 'Status' functionality. The company has been working on the revamped functionality since last 3.5 months and it was first reported in November. Developers have constantly been changing the user interface elements of the functionality based on the user feedback that they receive.To detail the changes, the company is working on a Snapchat like functionality for its 'Status updates' which will disappear after 24 hours. You can add images, videos, text on the images to add the status updates. You will get to know who all saw your Status updates just like in Snapchat and you can forward the status updates to your contacts. We tested the feature when it was launched back in November and the basic functionality is unchanged.WhatsApp is also working on minor changes to the user interface of their Android app to bring it in line with Google Material design guidelines. The significant change that you can notice is the introduction of Floating Action Button (FAB) in all the tabs. The action of the button changes depending on the 'Tab' you are in. The button turns into a 'Start a new conversation' button in the 'Chats' tab, it changes to 'Add new status' in the 'Status' tab and then it changes to 'Start a new call' in the 'Calls' tab.Another significant change that you will notice is the option to attach files has moved down on to the right of 'Chat Window' where users type their messages. The attach button on the top left corner is replaced by separate buttons for video and audio calls for quick access. This comes right after the company has rolled out 'Two-step verification' for all its users.
