Watered down Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 32GB internal storage launched at Rs 12,999

After launching its mammoth Mi Max 2 phablet in July, Xiaomi today launched a new variant of the Mi Max 2 at a lower Rs 12,999 price tag. The new variant comes with hardware specifications that are similar to the original model, but cuts down on the internal storage space that is now limited to 32 GB. This new variant of the Mi Max 2 will go on sale for the first time on Amazon India, Mi.com/in and Xiaomi's Mi Home stores on 20 September at 12.00 pm.[caption id="attachment_4056039" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Buyers will not have to worry about the 32 GB internal storage as the phablet does come with expandable storage, which allows for an microSD card. The device supports microSD cards of up to 256 GB, which should be good enough for most.Those looking to use both SIM slots will however, find the Mi Max 2 a bit of hassle as the SIM and SD card are combined into a Hybrid SIM tray, which allows either for dual SIM usage or a single SIM plus a microSD card.

The rest of the specifications of the device remain the same as before. You still get that full HD 6.44-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The rear camera is a 12 MP Sony IMX386 unit, while the front-facing camera is 5 MP unit.A key highlight apart from the large phablet-sized display and that massive 5,300 mAh battery are also those dual speakers that deliver stereo sound for an immersive gaming or movie viewing experience. The earlier model was priced at Rs 16,999.
