Vodafone India to offer free Twitter usage for 3 months

Vodafone India has teamed up with Twitter to offer free Internet access to its subscribers.

Vodafone India has teamed up with Twitter to offer free Internet access to its subscribers. According to an official statement by the company, "Under this arrangement, Vodafone India customers will experience the 'Twitter for Android' app and mobile.twitter.com free of any mobile charges for three months."

Before this, Twitter had gone for a similar deal with Reliance Communications.

This offer is available for a ninety day period and browsing on Twitter will not cost users extra. Howeverall external links, videos and pictures will be charged as per applicable rates. The offer is open to both post-paid and pre-paid subscribers.

In a recent event, Vodafone had announced that it was going to focus on smartphone users and help more users adopt 3G services.

The company had said that nearly 2 million of its Mumbai users use smartphones and out of this 47 percent use 3G services.

As part of its "Be Smart" mobile internet Initiative, Vodafone hopes to ensure that remaining 53 percent also take to 3G.
