Vivo is all set to launch world’s first smartphone with under-display fingerprint scanner at CES 2018

Image: Vivo[/caption]The unveiling will take place at the ongoing CES 2018 on 10 January 2018. The company released a teaser poster that shows a smartphone-shaped rectangle with curved corners and a circular button with fingerprint impression significantly higher up in the display.This is neither the first mention of this technology nor the first speculation about which company will bring the technology in smartphones after Apple iPhone X skipped it in favour of Face ID. According to a report by GizChina, the Chinese smartphone maker Vivo clarified that it will be the first company to bring the technology to the consumer market.

Synaptics, the company that pioneered the ‘under-display; fingerprint scanner had already issued a statement about how the technology works. As previously reported, Vivo X20 Plus is likely to be the name of the smartphone with this technology instead of the previously rumoured Xplay 7. However, Vivo has not issued any statement about other details of the smartphone. One thing that we can expect that the smartphone will pack OLED panel because of how ‘under-display’ technology works.
