On video: Samsung's first Tizen smartphone, the Z1

Last week, Samsung launched its first ever Tizen smartphone, the Z1 in India for a price of Rs 5,700. The company had earlier launched a watch running Tizen (Samsung Gear S in 2014) and the 2015 smart-television series will be running on Tizen.The smartphone launch was supposed to take place in Russia earlier but that didn't happen. However, it seems Samsung finally decided to launch Tizen smartphones and the Z1 is the first device in the series.As far as specs go, the Z1 is a budget-device aimed for first-time buyers who are switching from feature phones to a smartphone. The Z1 has a 4-inch WVGA PLS screen, 4 GB storage space expandable to 32 GB via microSD card, 768 MB RAM, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 3.1 megapixel camera and a VGA front camera.In our first impression of the smartphone, we had noticed that while the specs of the phone aren't great, the Tizen OS is fairly fast although the lack of apps from developers may hold it back.For Samsung, the smartphone is a crucial test of whether it can build it's own successful OS. For instance, the Bada OS that was seen on earlier Samsung phones, completely lost out to Google's Android.Check out video of the smartphone above.
