Via Introduces CX700m IGP Chipset
VIA introduces a new chipset the VIA CX700M digital media IGP aimed at multimedia entertainment devices.
Leading chipset manufacturer Via Technologies has introduced a new chipset the VIA CX700M digital media IGP. This is intended for Via's own C7 and Eden processor platforms. The chipset has been designed specifically for multimedia purposes since the chip integrates graphics, audio, memory storage and HDTV all in single chip design. This is helpful as it allows for development of small form factors designs, reduces power consumption and runs cooler overall.
With a modular design that has a built-in HDTV encoder the chipset also supports DDR/DDR 2 memory modules, features eight channel audio and has connectivity support for both SATA and PATA drives. It even manages to pack in six USB 2.0 slots and four PCI slots.
